Day 49 - Drysdale River Roadhouse to Manning Gorge

Sofia and younger Phoebe came over early for a play. I think the girls have made good friends with them. We decided not to swim two kilometres up the road, but at our next destination, Manning Gorge, 7km off the Gibb River Road from Mt Barnett Roadhouse. The roadhouse is well stocked, so we grabbed a few supplies and booked in for the campsite. The campertrailer handbrake cable broke when Justin tried to put it on so we had to chock a wheel to keep the rig still. The campsite is very dry.

Unusually for us, we didn't travel too far to get to this campsite, so we had time for the luxury of a long swim in the Barnett River. It is lovely and cool with a sandy bottom. There are a few rocks to avoid, and in the middle a large one you can rest on. We ate carbonara with angel hair pasta last night which was delicious. Sofia and Phoebe asked to borrow a lantern as their gas mantle had broken on the road. We hadn't met the parents at this stage, but we knew their car suspension was in trouble from the road into the Mitchell Plateau.
